Ubuntu is
an African
word that has been rendered several ways. Coming from Zulu, the
word literally means "humaneness." It is most commonly used in the
context of the following Zulu maxim: "umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu", "a
person is a person through other persons."
This saying itself has been paraphrased in many ways. A few
are:
"A person is a person because of other persons."
"I
am what I am because of what we all are."
"the belief in a
universal bond of sharing that connects all humanity."
